Brief history: the territory of Bolivia was part of the Inca Empire in the pre-Colombian era, in 1536 Diego de Almagro founded Paria, near Oruro, and the first Spanish city built on current Bolivian territory. In 1545, he discovered the silver deposits on the mountain of Potosí, a legendary treasure that enriched the kingdom of Spain and all Europe. In 1559 Felipe II created the Audiencia de Charcas, basically what is the current Bolivian territory, administrative and political region that was separated from the Virreynato of Peru in 1776 and annexed to Buenos Aires. In 1809 the emancipative process of the Spanish colony started in Sucre culminating on August 6, 1825 with the proclamation of independence of the new State to which was given the name of Republic of Bolivar in honor of the Libertador Simón Bolivar and eventually Bolivia.
